Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Munat mobile application and related services (the "Service") provided by the Munat team ("Munat", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by your country) and legally able to enter a binding contract. If you use Munat on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it to these Terms.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity on your account.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
• You must notify us immediately at support@munat.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

• Munat offers free and paid subscription tiers. Current pricing and features are shown inside the app.
• Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by Munat. Their respective terms and refund policies apply.
• Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
• To cancel, manage, or request a refund, use your device's subscription settings:
  • iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
  • Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions.
• Free trials (if offered) convert automatically to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice inside the app or by email. Continued use after the change is acceptance of the new price.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal, harmful, deceptive, or infringing purpose.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code, except as permitted by law.
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, feature gates, or other technical protections.
• Access the Service using automated means or scrapers without our written permission.
• Upload content that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, or that infringes anyone's rights.
• Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service as a managed offering to third parties.
• Introduce malware or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section or otherwise pose a risk to the Service.

5. User content

• You retain all ownership of the content you add to Munat (pantry items, notes, photos).
• You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, transmit, and display your content solely as needed to operate the Service for you and anyone you share a household with.
• You represent that you have the rights to the content you upload.

6. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its name, logo, software, text, design, and aggregate data (e.g., anonymized shelf-life estimates and product catalog), is owned by Munat and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

7. Third-party services

Munat integrates with third-party services (Apple, Google, Supabase, RevenueCat, OpenAI, Open Food Facts, Sentry, PostHog, Upstash, Expo). Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

8. Updates and changes to the Service

We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes that adversely affect paid subscribers.

9. Termination

• You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account.
• We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service, other users, or Munat.
• On termination, your licence to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Shelf-life estimates, food-safety nudges, and AI-generated recommendations are informational and are not medical, dietary, or food-safety advice. Always use your own judgement, senses, and local food-safety guidance when deciding whether food is safe to consume. Munat is not liable for any illness, injury, or loss caused by reliance on in-app information.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Munat and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Munat for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; in that case, the limits apply to the maximum extent permitted.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Munat and its affiliates harmless from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the applicable federal laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law provides otherwise.

14. Apple-specific terms

If you obtained Munat from the Apple App Store:

• These Terms are between you and Munat only, not Apple.
• Apple is not responsible for the Service or any claims relating to it (including product-liability, consumer-protection, or IP claims).
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified inside the app and/or by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
